Wondering how much you need? Simply put...you need to calculate your volume of your pit (not area). so you need three measurements in the same units. If millimeters (mm), all three, if centimeters (cm) all three, so it will be if in meters (m).
Here's an easy way to calculate.
Length x Breadth (Width) x Depth = Pit Volume
If all is in meters your number will be in cubic meters (this is why is simply called a cube). [1m x 1m x 1m = 1 cube]
Play-pit Example: If your pit length (l) is 2.5 meters and its breadth (b) (width) is 1.2 meters and you measure 45 cm deep (h) (depth) is an the same as 0.45 meters.
Volume Pit Calculation - Cubes to Order:
=l x b x h
= Length x Width x Depth = 2.5m x 1.3m x 0.45m
Total = 1.46 cubic meters or cubes
Rounded to 1.5 cubes of sand to order.
