Collection: Pool Pumps

There is nothing as inviting as a sparkling pool .

A pool pump is a vital piece of equipment for any pool - pumping, circulating and filtering the pool’s water. Although pool pumps tend to be pricey, your in-ground pool cannot survive without one and it will last you for many years.

When purchasing a pool pump, you will need to determine the correct size. (Bigger is not better as that will only lead to higher operating costs). The general rule of thumb is a pump that has the capacity to filter your pool water in an 8-hour period - this will be determined by the volume of water in your pool.

The formula for calculating the volume of water in a rectangular pool:

Length X Width X Average Water Depth (add 3 depths together and divide by 3) X 1000 = Pool Volume in Liters

The formula for calculating the volume of water in a round pool:

Diameter X Diameter X Average Water Depth (add 3 depths together and divide by 3) X 785 = Volume in Liters

The formula for calculating the volume of water in an oval pool:

Long Diameter (Meters) X Short Diameter (Meters) X Average Water Depth (Meters) X 785 = Volume in Liters
